The owners asked for a complete outdoor living area that would include a swimming pool with an attached spa, a pool house with fireplace as well as extensive plantings.
Our design challenge was the huge slope of over 30 feet. In addition, thousands of square feet of yard was draining directly into the proposed outdoor living area. We met this challenge with a combination of walls, slopes, and boulders. Due to the severe grade change, we engineered portions of the patio to be supported with concrete piers and reinforced the patio with structural steel tied into the piers.
We did all the exterior stonework on the pool house and constructed the fireplace and chimney with special order stone from Oklahoma. This was complemented with travertine for the pool decking and the patios.
